Abstract | The purpose of this study was to examine Kinesiology-related departments' current engagement in the recruitment of international students for graduate programs. Forty-nine colleagues in Kinesiology-related departments from United States colleges and universities participated in this study. This is a descriptive study in which researchers used a web-based, 20-items survey containing multiple choice, Likert-type scale, and open-ended questions. Results showed stable enrollment in graduate programs in participant departments and little engagement in deliberate efforts to recruit international students for those programs. Findings from answers to the open-ended questions revealed that challenges and facilitators of the recruitment of international students for graduate programs can operate at three levels: faculty, institution, and global. Although a great percentage of departments have not engaged in recruitment efforts over the past three years targeting either domestic or international students, most departments seemed to agree that it is important to invest in recruitment of international students given their potential to enhance departments' diversity.
