AbstractOpen and Distance Learning (ODL) has become an increasingly popular platform for delivering education the world over. The acceptance of ODL as a viable alternative to traditional brick and mortar educational institutes has been a topic of debate however. Furthermore, many questions have been raised about the different levels of interest individuals may hold towards ODL based on their demographic information. This study explores the attitudes of Egyptian high-school students towards ODL. A modified version of The Online Tutoring Attitudes Scale (OTAS) was collected from 111 Egyptian high-school junior and seniors from a private high-school in Cairo, Egypt to help gauge the attitudes of participants with respect to computer usage and ODL. The findings of this study suggested that participants had rather favorable attitudes towards online learning, high levels of computer confidence, low levels of computer anxiety, and believed rather highly in the usefulness of computers and online learning.
