Abstract | Findings from this phenomenological study of 11 school counselors' perceptions of and work with students adopted transracially (SATr) were amplified through eight themes reflecting their shared storyline as a "continuum of comfort and confidence." These school counselors relied on their understanding of human development, using counseling skills, applying multicultural competence, and being sensitive to adoption-related practices to understand and meet the needs of SATr and their families. The authors provide recommendations to promote equity and inclusion of SATr in the school setting and for counselor education training. (As Provided). |
