Abstract | It is important for MIS educators to have a good understanding of what IT knowledge and skills are required in business. In this study, 103 open job positions in the Midwestern United States were investigated via semi-structured interviews with hiring companies. The interviews with key business recruiters suggest that IT knowledge and skills are significantly considered during the recruiting process, even if the target position is not IT-related. The most sought-after skills are summarized. Implications for MIS education and research are discussed. (As Provided). |
