Abstract | The Kent State University School of Library and Information Science serves as the home for two children's literature special collections. The Reinberger Children's Library Center is located on the third floor of Kent State's University Library and includes the Marantz Picturebook Collection for the Study of Picturebook Art. The Reinberger Children's Library Center, a state-of-the-art children's resource and teaching facility, opened in the summer of 2003. This model classroom is used to teach aspiring librarians who want to work with children and young adults and librarians who want to work in the schools. It includes more than 10,000 books and multimedia, puppets, a demonstration school library, and demonstration children and young adult areas. The Marantz Picturebook Collection, a gift from Ken and Sylvia Marantz, includes more than 27,000 picturebooks from the past forty years, as well as posters, original artwork, and character toys, all of which are artistically and functionally displayed. These collections are not accessible via digital means, but the possibility and feasibility of digitizing the 2,000-plus children's book promotion posters is being explored. Using four key publications with a focus on special collections in children's literature, the author explored what type of presence these collections have online. In this article, she provides a list that first highlights websites that provide "lists of links" to collections and then highlights some of the collections that have online materials that are no cost and available for use.
