Abstract | Making paper can be good for the planet, as well as an adventure for one's students. The costs of the activity of making the pulp from recycled paper are low and it is very eco-friendly. To begin, the author showed her middle-school students several examples of handmade paper in which outdoor scenes had been developed using an additive technique. Batches of different-colored fibers had been bonded together to form single sheets depicting landscapes. The learning objectives of this activity are for students to: (1) better understand the fibrous structure of paper and how it is prepared; (2) make art from recycled materials; (3) use materials and equipment responsibly; and (4) make a sincere effort to create a personally expressive work.
