AbstractWhile behavior skills training (BST), alone, is proven to be an effective means for training staff, the later components consisting of rehearsal and feedback can be lengthy, and likely contribute to organizations' reluctance to use it as a training method. This study sought to investigate whether video self-monitoring (VSM) paired with BST would be an effective training method versus BST alone, while demonstrating an increase in staff implementation, and an increase in mand opportunities provided. Finding a technique that could support employees and is effective for organizations could increase the quality of staff performance and services provided. The goal of this study was to determine whether VSM paired with BST is an effective training tool to increase the fidelity of implementation of mand training by Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), and to determine whether VSM paired with BST is an effective means to increase the number of mand opportunities provided by RBTs. Results demonstrate that BST paired with VSM increased mands for three of the four participants. The last participant, although demonstrating an increased trend line, did not consistently meet 10 mands within the allotted six sessions. However, all four participants increased and maintained fidelity of mand implementation at 100% accuracy following BST and VSM paired together. Overall, these findings showed BST paired with VSM to be an effective training method for RBTs. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
