Abstract | We examined the relationship between socioeconomic status (SES) and creativity through a meta-analysis of 885 effect sizes from 151 samples in 116 studies. We adopted a multivariate meta-analysis approach to control for the dependency of the effect sizes along with a robust variance estimator to account for their correlation. Analyses showed that there is a small positive correlation between creativity and socioeconomic status (r = 0.117, 95% CI [0.086, 0.148]). Further analyses with four groups of moderators (study characteristics, sample characteristics, creativity measure, and SES measure) indicated that the mean effect size is significantly higher when the creativity index is flexibility, and when the study sample is elementary school students. Results are discussed in terms of implications for gifted identification. (As Provided). |
