Abstract | A qualitative study of selected alumnae of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS) was conducted to determine if the graduates recall and utilization of the Core Values of the Institution were elemental in their ministry or professional positions. The study participants represent a stratification of NOBTS graduates serving in the churches, agencies, and institutions of higher education throughout the Southern Baptist Convention. Fourteen questions were posed to fourteen subjects in order to ascertain their responsiveness to the five research questions that focused on awareness of the institution's Core Values, dependence on the values over time, whether the values were instrumental in ministry, the role of faculty in the transference of values, and perceived level of emphasis of the values during their studies at the seminary. After interviews were recorded. organized and coded, results indicated a weak direct recall of the five core values of the institution by the sample subjects. Upon analysis it was discovered that values relating to Servant Leadership and Doctrinal Integrity and or interpretative synonyms from the coding were most important to the respondents while Missions Focus. Characteristic Excellence, and Spiritual Vitality received lesser evaluation. Personal values were also found to be important to the participants. Narrative summaries are contained in the findings section. Complete narratives are made available in the appendices section of the document.
