Abstract	How can countries prepare teachers to face the diverse challenges in today's schools? The OECD "Teaching and Learning International Survey" (TALIS) helps answer this question by asking teachers and school leaders about their working conditions and the learning environments at their schools. TALIS aims to provide valid, timely and comparable information to help countries review and define policies for developing a high-quality teaching profession. It is an opportunity for teachers and school leaders to provide input into educational policy analysis and development in key areas. This report presents the results of the second cycle of the TALIS survey conducted in 2013. Following the foreword, an acknowledgements section, an executive summary, a reader's guide, and an overview of TALIS, the following chapters are presented: (1) Teachers and their Schools; (2) The Importance of School Leadership; (3) Developing and Supporting Teachers; (4) Improving Teaching Using Appraisal and Feedback; (50 Examining Teacher Practices and Classroom Environment; and (6) Teacher Self-Efficacy and Job Satisfaction: Why They Matter. The following are appended: (1) Technical Notes on Sampling Procedures and Response Rates for TALIS 2013; (2) Technical Notes on Indices and Analysis Used in TALIS 2013; (3) TALIS 2013 Tables of Results; and (4) List of Contributors. A section on individual country notes is also included. Appended to the "Country Notes" section are the following: (1) Participation and estimated size of teacher population--ISCED 1; (2) Participation and estimated size of teacher population--ISCED 2; (3) Participation and estimated size of teacher population--ISCED 3; (4) Participation and estimated size of teacher population--TALIS-PISA link; (5) List of variables in the Chapter 2 regression analyses; (6) The percentage of missing cases for each country for each variable included in the Chapter 2 regression analyses; (7) List of variables in the Chapter 3 regression analyses; (8) The percentage of missing cases for each country for each variable included in the Chapter 3 regression analyses; (9) List of variables in the Chapter 4 regression analyses; and (10) The percentage of missing cases for each country for each variable included in the Chapter 4 regression analyses.
