AbstractThe purpose of this study was to investigate predictors related to personal characteristics (i.e., level of moral reasoning and personal attitudes toward reporting child sexual abuse) and professional characteristics (i.e., experience, and training) of the professional school counselor influencing ability to accurately recognize and likelihood to appropriately report child sexual abuse. This study used the Defining Issues Test, Version 2 to measure moral reasoning and a modified version of the Teacher Reporting Questionnaire to measure accuracy to recognize and likeliness to report child sexual abuse. A multiple regression analysis was used examine personal and professional predictors. The results of the multiple regressions on the overall model did not predict the professional school counselors' ability to recognize or likelihood to appropriately report child sexual abuse based on these predictors chosen for this study.
