Abstract | Career centers at community colleges across America are utilizing technology in a variety of ways to efficiently and effectively deliver their services to students. Therefore, identifying and understanding the technology-related preferences and needs of community college students is fundamental for planning and establishing relevant online career services that promote student success. This Executive Position Paper examines the perspective of Delaware Technical Community College (Delaware Tech) Terry Campus students regarding their overall preferences for virtual vs. face-to-face delivery of career planning and development services, investigates best practices and models of technology-based career services at various higher education institutions, and provides a guide for determining the best way to integrate technology into career services at Delaware Tech. The goal of this research study was to conduct a student needs assessment of Delaware Tech' credit students at the Terry Campus to determine current student usage and satisfaction of career services, as well as preferences for virtual versus face-to-face career services. As a result of this research study, policy recommendations for planning, establishing, and promoting relevant technology-based career services that promote student success are proposed, including an action plan, additional resources, and measures of success.
