AbstractPositive behavior support (PBS) is a preventative and proactive system of managing behavior that is being used in the United States and other countries. Positive behavior support has been successfully implemented in typical school settings for students with and without disabilities. However, research documenting the implementation and effects of PBS in alternative settings is scarce. The purposes of this study were to a) provide detailed documentation of a model for implementing PBS in an alternative educational setting that could be used as a model to implement PBS in similar settings, b) to assess student outcomes following PBS implementation, and c) to obtain social validity data related to teacher and staff attitudes about the acceptability and applicability of PBS in alternative educational settings.
