AbstractThe purpose of this quantitative study was to identify whether the corporate brain drain that results as baby boomers retire and highly educated skilled immigrants return to their nations of origin, or to other developing nations, impact corporations in developed countries; and identify effective solutions firms are using to address the void of technical knowledge interests that remains after the simultaneous exodus of these two key populations from corporations. A secondary purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of management toward brain drain. I desire to support through a literature review, specific incentives and programs organizations are using to facilitate the retention of organizational knowledge. Through the employment of a survey sent to participants currently employed in the workforce, I intend to identify how organizations are preparing for the brain drain and whether the phenomena is consider a problem or not. The combination of the data in the literature review and from the survey instrument will determine findings of this study and areas of future research into this topic. The findings from this research may potentially assist corporations to identify preventive strategies and solutions to address the brain drain caused by the loss of retiring baby boomers and reverse migration, while also identifying the perceptions of management as it relative to brain drain.
