Abstract | Using data from Achieving the Dream: Community Colleges Count, this Data Note's issue examines developmental math referrals, attempts and completions from the 2002 Achieving the Dream student cohort over two academic years, fall 2002 through spring 2004. Although approximately half of the students who were referred to developmental math completed at least one math class within two years, nearly half of the referred students had to take two or three classes to qualify for college-level math. At the end of two years, only 17 percent of those in the 2002 cohort who had been referred to any developmental math met all of the qualifications to continue on to college-level math.
