Abstract | A methodological approach that emerged during the design of task-specific research rubrics to code large sets of open-ended survey data fills the void in scholarship about developing rubrics for research purposes. A brief rationale for using this method rather than other, often-used, data analysis methods is provided, with a description of the methodology, using an example to support the description. Finally, recommendations are included for those who plan to undertake the task of rubric development for research purposes. (Contains 1 footnote, 1 figure and 2 tables.)
