AbstractThe sole purpose of this book is to provide a primer or "how-to" resource for new or seasoned enrollment managers. Its core chapters are practical applications of Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) best practices. While incorporating some secondary source referencing, the dialogue primarily outlines how making some basic adjustments to business as usual can have an immediate impact on enrollments, including tips on how an institution can change and consequently gauge its successes. This book provides techniques to aid the new/seasoned enrollment manager, director of admissions, student services director or anyone in a management position within an institution looking for an impetus to change their enrollment practices, but lacking the knowledge/resources to find a starting point. Following a prologue by Jim Black and an introduction by Craig Westman, the book presents the following 14 chapters: (1) Coaching a Winning Enrollment Management Team (Ronnie Higgs and Craig Westman); (2) Seeing the Future: Designing a Simple and Effective Model for Enrollment Projections (Kristen Salomonson and Craig Westman); (3) Predictive Modeling on a Lean Budget (Kristen Salomonson); (4) Territorial Management for Admissions Recruiters (Cathryn Claerhout, Troy Tissue, and Craig Westman); (5) Assessment (Kristen Salomonson); (6) Dueling Communications: Print versus Electronic Marketing (Shelly Armstrong, Penny Bouman, and Craig Westman); (7) Digital Documents: Simple CRM Solutions for the Digital Age (Penny Bouman, Lisa King, and Craig Westman); (8) In-House Production: The Cost Benefit of Internalizing Basic Print Services (Jim Lindsey and Craig Westman); (9) Campus Visits: Creating an Effective Program from the Ground Up (Mike Cairns, Cathryn Claerhout, Troy Tissue, Kristen Salomonson, and Craig Westman); (10) Faculty Participation: Extending Your Student Recruitment Team (Penny Bouman, Daniel Burcham, and Michael Cairns); (11) Summer Session: A Key to Enrollment Growth (Dave Engels, Ronnie Higgs, and Craig Westman); (12) Orientation (Debi Whitman); (13) Implementing a One-Stop Student Service Center (Dave Engels, Ronnie Higgs, and Craig Westman); and (14) The Role of the President (David Eisler). The book concludes with an epilogue by Craig Westman and 2 appendixes: (1) Orientation Planning; and (2) Job Requirements--Student Service Representative. Author biographies; a list of references; and an index are also included. (ERIC).
