Abstract | The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects and the effectiveness of the use of an on-line community to support preservice teacher and new teacher interaction and development. Mathematics, Science, and Technology (MaSTech) was designed to connect middle grade mathematics preservice teachers and beginning teachers with their peers as well as with university education supervisors and two graduate students who are master teachers in teaching mathematics. MaSTech aimed to provide a forum for peer-mediated learning and to promote effective problem-solving among preservice teachers and beginning teachers. Participants in MaSTech found the use of the on-line forum to be a profitable and enjoyable experience. (Contains 13 references.) (ASK) |
