Abstract | This study attempted to assess the effectiveness of a science program implemented by two elementary science specialists in a school district in a Western state. The study aimed to compare the potential of elementary classroom teachers and elementary science specialists to implement the reform vision for elementary science education in grades 4-6. The study was exploratory and qualitative in nature. Two science specialists and all 23 elementary classroom teachers for grades 4-6 from the specialists' district participated in the study. It is suggested that elementary science specialists may be more effective than regular classroom teachers in implementing the reform vision for elementary science education. (Contains 24 references.)
