| Abstract | This general history of Asian-American education provides information about individual ethnic groups. Each of the 12 country-specific chapters begins with a description of the kind of education received in the home country, including how widely available education was, how equal the society was, and the circumstances that resulted in the emigration of children. The later part of each chapter deals with the education these children later received in the United States. The order of the chapters is roughly chronological in terms of when the first sizable numbers of immigrants came from the country. The chapters are: (1) "Introduction"; (2) "China"; (3) "Japan"; (4) "Korea"; (5) "Philippines"; (6)"Vietnam"; (7) "Cambodia"; (8) "Laos"; (9) "Hong Kong"; (10) "Taiwan"; (11)"Micronesia"; (12) "Polynesia"; (13) "India"; and (14) "Cross-Group Issues."
