Top stories include: NATO bombings in Belgrade amid peace negotiations, people of South Africa go to the polls, millions turn out for South Africa's second all-race elections, and the Serb parliament accepts NATO's Kosovo peace plan (June 1-4); talks between NATO and Serb military leaders collapse, bombs persist over Yugoslavia, at President Clinton's urging, theaters will make viewers present photo identification to see "R" rated movies, Yugoslav officials agree to begin withdrawing troops from Kosovo as part of a peace deal, and Yugoslav troops begin withdrawing from Kosovo (June 7-11); NATO troops assert control over Pristina, Yugoslavia, U.S. forces arrive in Kosovo, tensions mount as Yugoslavian troops withdraw from Kosovo, Vice President Al Gore announces his candidacy for U.S. President, and Kosovo refugees return home (June 14-18); CNN Newsroom provides a chronology of the Kosovo conflict, the KLA solidifies ties with NATO by signing a disarmament agreement, President Clinton visits with Kosovar refugees at the Stankovec Refugee Camp, investigators gather evidence of war crimes in Kosovo, and to better understand the evolution of the universe, NASA launches the FUSE telescope (June 21-25); the international community extends efforts to help rebuild Kosovo, NATO forces continue to encourage KLA disarmament in Kosovo, and Kurdish rebel leader, Abdullah Ocalan, receives the death sentence (June 28-30).
