| Abstract | This guide presents ways to reduce exclusion in British schools, particularly exclusion of black Caribbean boys. After showing the percentage of black Caribbean boys being excluded from school, as compared to other ethnic groups, the guide gives good practice recommendations for schools and local education authorities. Schools can bring about improvements in policy and practice that can help ensure equality. Local education authorities can provide leadership to help schools reduce exclusions and can make sure that policies related to race and ethnicity are implemented fairly. Cooperation among local education agencies can reinforce and share good practices for all schools. (SLD) |
