AbstractThe role of women's centers and other facilities for women has become increasingly important in promoting a variety of opportunities for women's learning and participation in society. This conference, with the theme of women's networks for the future, was designed to promote the international exchange of information and cooperative development efforts. This document contains the conference schedule, profiles of the presenters, and comments on the papers they were to deliver. The initial presentations were to be part of a symposium on the 20th anniversary of the National Women's Education Centre titled "Seeking the Clear Image of Women's Centres in the Twenty-first Century." Also planned were group discussions on gender and education/learning, women's studies, and women's information and empowerment. The papers planned for these sessions were: (1) "Gender and Education in Korea" (Kum-Ja Chung); (2) "A Global Overview of UNIFEM" (United Nations Development Fund for Women) (Chandoni Joshi); (3) "Gender and Education/Learning Programmes" (Mioko Fujieda); (4) "Eliminating Gender Role Reproduction in School Education, and Life-long Learning for Empowerment" (Yasuko Muramatsu); (5) "Women's Studies in a Changing Context, from Development towards International Co-operation " (Geertje Lycklama); (6) "Women's Studies--A Crucial Key to Feminist Purpose" (Devaki Jain); (7) "Women's Studies Research in Japan: Results and Issues" (Hiroko Hara); (8) "Issues for Women's Studies Education as We Move towards the Twenty-first Century" (Junko Kuninobu); (9) "The Empowerment of Women in the New Information Age" (Anne S.
