AbstractThis manual has been developed to assist mentors in working with mentees in a career mentoring program. The manual is divided into four sections. The first section provides information on how to be an effective career mentor. It suggests strategies to make the time mentors spend with mentees meaningful. The second section provides information on adolescent development in order to help mentors learn what to expect from the youth they are mentoring. The workplace is the topic of the third section. The section gives a brief synopsis of work force background information, future work force information, a gender-neutral language chart, and nontraditional and high-wage career information. The final section suggests activities to help mentors get started. A mentor volunteer checklist and a list of 13 references are included in the manual. (KC)
