Abstract | This booklet contains project-oriented lessons and hands-on activities developed to integrate steel recycling, natural resource conservation, and solid waster management into science learning. Each lesson is presented in capsule form in an introductory section called, "Lessons at a Glance." The first lesson, "Supply & Demand," includes the activities "Quenched and Tempered Steel" and "Stretch and Strain." The activities included in the second lesson, "Collect & Haul," are "Fluff Stuff" and "Jumping Metal.""What's a MRF?" and "Steel Home" are the activities included with the third lesson, "Sort & Produce." Also included are a cross-reference chart of activities to physics concepts and critical thinking skills, a glossary, student worksheets, resource list, and teacher evaluation form. (MKR) |
