Abstract	This book reports on a 3-year project involving the design and implementation of a coordinated demonstration program for the treatment of child sexual abuse in rural Manitoba (Canada). The purpose of the project was to address problems resulting from child sexual abuse services that are sporadic and uncoordinated in rural Canadian communities. Section 1 of the book contains a detailed description of key elements involved in the creation and maintenance of a rural coordinated service system. Chapters in this section overview the special context of services that operate in rural communities; outline basic steps in building the community infrastructure necessary for interagency consultation and collaboration; address the important link between investigative and treatment services, including detailed case histories that track critical service elements; and discuss the importance of early crisis intervention services that focus on the family. Section 2 reviews key research findings encompassing a wide scope of service evaluation, including the use of service-impact indicators at three levels: clients, service agency, and communities. Chapters in this section describe the project's evaluation strategy, including a detailed description of the two participating communities and agencies; ways the project facilitated local community involvement in the design and implementation of a coordinated service plan and strengthened local service providers in aspects of child sexual abuse services; and service outcome measures that were collected over the term of the project. Part 3 considers the professional attitudes towards child sexual abuse held by police, child welfare workers, and community mental health workers. This section also includes conclusions about coordinating child sexual abuse services in rural areas and recommendations for program implementation. Includes 111 references and an index. (LP)
