AbstractThese five brochures describe the IBM Corporation's policies, programs, and initiatives designed to meet the needs of employees' child care and family responsibilities as they move through various stages of employment with IBM. The Work and Personal Life Balance Programs brochure outlines (1) policies for flexible work schedules, including work-leave options; (2) programs for employees caring for dependents; (3) family health programs; (4) retirement provisions, and (5) community service. Three additional brochures elaborate on the company's child care assistance policy, part-time work and leave options, and work and personal life balance issues and answers. The final brochure is a "Work-Life Situations Road Map," a comprehensive chart of all the company's family policies. Of particular relevance to education are the "Technical Academic Career Program" for those pursuing academic careers after retirement from IBM and the "Retirement Education Assistance Program" for those within five years of retirement.
