Abstract	Florida's community college and school district postsecondary adult vocational programs in fire fighter training and fire science technology were subjected to a statewide program review. Efforts were made to reach Florida's entire community of career and volunteer fire fighters. Data were collected in the following ways: site interviews with training directors, fire chiefs and officers, students, instructors, and other persons with fire service affiliations; questionnaires inserted in the magazines of the Professional Fire Fighters of Florida and Florida Fireman's Association; surveys distributed at a 1988 conference of the Florida Fire Chiefs Association and Florida Society of Fire Service Instructors; surveys administered to students of minimum standards and postsecondary programs; and telephone interviews. The data from these sources were coordinated, synthesized, and used to develop specific recommendations pertaining to the following issues: fire fighter training program staffing and equipment; curriculum and instruction; program articulation; placement, recruitment and hiring practices; equipment and facilities; staff development, and program standards and development. (Included among this report's 18 appendixes, which comprise more than half the document, are the survey forms used for the program review, information on recruiting female fire fighters, curriculum frameworks, sample program brochures, and sample articulation agreements.
