Abstract	This book contains over 100 career development activities for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Each activity is designed to meet one or more specific competencies established by the National Occupational Information Coordinating Committee. Introductory sections explain the layout of the book and provide information for conducting a sharing circle, a unique small-group discussion process that is used to promote teacher-student and student-student interaction. Activities are then organized under the three major headings of Self-Knowledge, Educational/Vocational Development, and Career Planning and Exploration. Within these three major areas, activities are arranged in developmental sequence. Activities for grades kindergarten-1 are followed by activities for grades 2-3 and grades 4-6. A grade-level designation appears at the top of each activity. The activities can be used to infuse self- and career-awareness into existing academic subject areas. Subject area connections are indicated for individual activities. Activities involve a variety of instructional strategies, several involve reading aloud sections from children's literature, and some include experience sheets for the teacher to duplicate and give to the students. Most activities conclude with a list of open-ended discussion questions and the recommendation that students be encouraged to talk about what they have learned. Many of the questions are formulated to elicit higher-level thinking in the students. (NB)
