| Abstract | This book outlines the evolution of the Values Program at Le Moyne College (Tennessee) since the fall of 1985, when it was developed by seven members of the college community. The program's goal was to awaken career-oriented students to the full potential of a liberal arts education, and thus revitalize their commitment to social responsibility. The book discusses how liberal arts education can be reinvigorated through an approach that deals not just with the humanities or curriculum in general, but also with the entire institution, including areas of student life, development, and admissions. Told from a variety of perspectives, the publication offers insights into the joys and sorrows of participation in a faculty-initiated program at a small college. The book is divided into three main parts which discuss the program's components (part 1), some personal reflections about how the program's components affected some participants (part 2), and a program assessment (part 3). The final chapters discuss how commitment to the program was achieved, how the limited resources were managed to meet the program's needs and the needs of other college programs, and ongoing empirical evaluation and research.
