Abstract | Application of the study of humanities in administrator education is explored in this paper. The argument is made that humanities studies help to conceptualize ideas and generate theory, and to represent and explain what is uniquely human. Effective administrators require problem-solving and critical thinking skills for dealing with people-related problems in human situations. Suggestions are offered for developing a graduate humanities seminar based on critical analysis, which teaches students to evaluate and synthesize issues and to relate concepts to educational theories. Appendices include notes and an article on the evaluation of a humanities seminar in administrator education and an example of seminar content and structure. (25 references) (LMI) |
