| Abstract | To facilitate articulation agreements with local high schools, the American River College (ARC) created the Articulation Council composed of members of the college administration and the administrations of several local high school districts. From this committee, secondary school/college faculty committees were formed to examine articulation possibilities in a number of subject areas. With state funding, ARC developed additional articulation efforts with regional occupational programs, adult schools, and universities. This articulation manual, containing basic information on articulation as well as a set of materials for each articulated program at ARC, was designed to serve as both a training manual and a basic reference tool. Following an introductory section defining articulation and describing the benefits for students and programs, articulation materials are provided for 12 specific programs including information on general agreements and procedures, course competencies, and the forms used in the articulation process. The twelve programs are: (1) Art/Home Economics; (2) Automotive Technology; (3) Behavioral/Social Sciences; (4) Business; (5) Communications/Humanities; (6) Electronic Technology; (7) Fire Technology; (8) Forestry; (9) Horticulture; (10) Mathematics/Engineering/Drafting; (11) Science; and (12) Welding. Appendixes include a sample high school district course numbering system, ARC graduation requirements, ARC proficiency requirements, ARC transfer center information, California State University general education requirements and a sample board resolution.
