Abstract | This module provides strategies for educators who want to assess employer needs in their communities. In addition, it provides guidelines for organizing and using the information once it is compiled. The guide includes a list of definitions and uses a question-and-answer format to discuss the best method for assessing employer needs, deciding whom to survey, organizing the information, creating filing systems, visiting employers, using other methods of assessing employer needs, developing job descriptions, profiling students, placing students in jobs, developing job retention skills, and finding job openings for special needs students. Samples of forms used to assess information about employer needs, construct a matrix of employability skills, and analyze jobs are provided, with four references. (KC) |
