| Abstract | The manual guides institutions of higher education and evaluation teams through the evaluation visit and subsequent accreditation processes of the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education, describing the Commission's policies and procedures. Chapter I brings together information on the work of the Commission's Consultant-Evaluator Corps. Chapter II reviews preparations the institution will need to make for the team visit beginning 2 years before the visit. Chapter III informs the team, and especially the team chair, about the early and thorough planning that is an integral part of every successful visit. Chapter IV describes the evaluation visit for the team and the institution. Chapter V focuses on the Team Report, including the desired format for organizing reports and the various options available to the team in developing its recommendation. Chapter VI provides a detailed description of the review processes of the Commission. Chapter VII clarifies aspects of preparing for, conducting, and reporting a focused evaluation, as they differ from a comprehensive evaluation. Chapter VIII deals with special cases, such as pre-visits, sequential visits, international visits, interregional visits, joint visits, generalist visits, and confirmation/advisory visits.
