Abstract | This curriculum guide provides materials for a nine-duty course in carpentry. The nine duties are estimating materials, preparing building site, sharpening tools, building and installing foundation forms, installing rough framing, installing roof components, installing exterior finishes, installing interior finishes, and assembling and constructing stairs. Each duty consists of a number of job-relevant tasks. These components are provided for each task: performance objective (task, standard of performance of task, source of standard, conditions for performance of task), enabling objectives, resource(s), teaching activities, criterion-referenced measure (questions, answers, practical application, method of evaluating practical application), and checklist for the student evaluation. Appendixes include a task list with job titles, definition of terms, list of tools and equipment, list of sources of standards, a bibliography of state-of-the-art literature, and a bibliography compiled by the writing team.
