Abstract	Many communities are unaware of the power they have and are therefore unfamiliar with how to use it. This document, by the Regeneration Project in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, is directed toward helping community leaders identify and develop opportunities that will help them expand their businesses, employment, and tax base, and improve their overall economic vitality. The first part of the document is an overview of some local, regenerative business opportunities that have worked for other communities. Each of the proposals is from communities where the Regeneration Project has been active, linking community leaders and businesses with local resources. Program proposals are categorized under seven headings: Manufacturing, Energy, Housing, Health, Food, Resource Management, and Economic Development. Some of the proposed projects include: vehicle remanufacturing; malls specializing in furniture and appliance repair; band uniform manufacturing; door manufacturing; residential energy conservation; industrial energy conservation; owner-built housing; hospital infection control; local food production and processing; urban farming; yogurt production; local school lunch programs; greenhouses that use waste heat from electric plants; rubber and plastics recycling; glass, paper and metal recycling; composting municipal leaves; community regeneration projects; local exchange/trading systems; expanding local marketplaces; and "regenerative" tourism. A final chapter describes several systems developed by the Regeneration Project to help communities make better, more informed decisions about their own economic development. Contains 22 references.
