AbstractThe purpose of this book is to provide information about the history, development, and practices of U.S. foreign policy. Part 1, "The World and the Nation," provides: (1) an overview and brief history of the countries and organizations affecting U.S. foreign policy; (2) a summary of U.S. history; and (3) information about the process of foreign policy development. Part 2, "The Regions," focuses on: (1) the effect of U.S.--USSR relations on European countries; (2) northeast Asian countries' relationships with the United States and the USSR; (3) instability in developing nations; and (4) western hemisphere countries. Part 3, "The Issues," describes global concerns in terms of war, peace, human rights, economics, ecology, and world order and provides selected generalizations concerning the development and practices of international relations. A glossary of terms and a 49-item bibliography are included. (JHP)
