Abstract | This learning module, which is intended for use in inservice training for vocational rehabilitation counselors, deals with procedures for teaching clients behaviors that they are not presently exhibiting. The following training strategies are covered: prompting (verbal prompts, modeling, and physical guidance); fading; discrimination training; shaping; chaining (performing a total task, forward chaining, and backward chaining); and additional strategies of imitation training, generalization training, and response differentiation. The procedures described can be applied in the teaching of skills needed in the following areas: independent living, vocational, pre-academic, socialization, and language. The module provides an opportunity for users to write and implement programs and use the techniques presented. Four self-tests are also included. (MN) |
