| Abstract | This collection of teaching materials will help teachers make pupils aware of the need to avoid and prevent situations which might result in fires and to master some simple life-saving techniques to protect themselves and others. The guide includes the following: (1) the 67th Annual New York City Fire Prevention Campaign Contest guidelines; (2) list of available teaching aids; (3) fire safety project suggestions; (4) facts about fires; (5) the science of firefighting; (6) how to report fires; (7) responsible babysitting guidelines; (8) how to react to burning clothing and smoke conditions; (9) home hazards; (10) family fire drills; (11) escape routes from buildings; (12) school fire drills; (13) fire hydrants; (14) smoke detectors; (15) firefighting careers; (16) arson; (17) seasonal fire hazards; (18) a fire song; and (19) a junior fire chief's pledge certificate.
