Abstract | This document presents results of research conducted by industry representatives regarding tasks performed by electronic technicians and line manufacturing electro-mechanical technicians in Arizona electronics industries. Based on this research, a competency-based curriculum was developed for training entry-level electronics technicians. Twelve major areas of tasks are identified: basic skills, analog, digital, safety, hygiene, optics, programmable controllers, pneumatic controls, hydraulic controls, physical skills, personality skills, and troubleshooting. For each area, major competencies and detailed tasks are presented. A separate page provides this information for each task: competency, task, standard of performance, source of standard, conditions for performance of task, and a performance guide. The task, standard, conditions and guide, when used together, are intended to form a performance objective. Appendixes include a listing of resources, equipment lists, and a complete summary of competencies and tasks. (YLB) |
