| Abstract | This guide is designed to help individuals make responsible decisions about safe use and disposal of household products. It consists of eight sections dealing with: (1) hazardous chemicals in the home, how hazaradous products become hazardous waste, and whether a hazardous waste problem exists in Puget Sound; (2) which household wastes are hazardous; (3) household hazardous waste routes in King County (Washington); (4) hazardous household products (considering solvents, pesticides and herbicides, automotive wastes, and household cleaners); (5) safety considerations when working with hazardous products; (6) disposal recommendations; (7) what individuals and neighborhood groups can do about household hazardous wastes; and (8) various resources, including energy organizations, federal agencies, other government agencies (state, local, and regional), citizen groups, and environmental organizations.
