AbstractSixteen teaching centers, active in the Teachers' Centers Exchange, were interviewed once a week for 10 weeks to examine to what degree communication occurred between network participants without passing through the filter of the Teachers' Centers Exchange staff. Also investigated was the degree to which individuals interact because they have similiar attributes or concerns. All participants were asked the following questions each week: (1) With whom do you interact? (2) What is their affiliation or where are they located? (3) Who initiated the conversation (the center in the study, or the person with whom the contact was made)? (4) What was the mode of the interaction (by telephone, letter, or face-to-face interaction)? (5) What topic or topics were discussed during the contact? (6) Was this part of a continuing interaction with this person or organization? and (7) Has your center had contact with this person or organization before about any other topics? In this report of the study, data from these questions are presented and analyzed in numerous tables and charts. Two conclusions drawn from the data include: There was a great amount of inter-center contact occurring, and teachers' center practitioners turn most often to their colleagues for advice and assistance.
