| Abstract | Elementary and secondary teachers and parents can use these resource materials to educate students about the issues related to war and peace. There are three major parts. The first part discusses how to implement a "day of dialogue," during which the dangers of nuclear war are examined. Included are tips on how to organize, meet resistance, and mobilize support; sample letters to parents and faculty members; publicity flyers; brief reading selections which provide background information on nuclear weapons and warfare; and study questions and reading lists. Part two suggests many varied learning activities which are organized by grade level (K-3, 4-6, 7-12). For example, students read and discuss books, role play, tell stories, participate in debates, write poetry, and listen to outside speakers. Part three is an annotated bibliography for students and teachers. (RM) |
