Abstract | Part of a continuing series intended for use by reading professionals interested in understanding and improving the reading of adolescents, this report contains five articles dealing with a variety of subjects. Specific topics discussed in the articles include (1) remedial readers' comprehension during silent and oral reading, (2) recall and intervening mental activities involved in listening to expository information, (3) applied research in content area reading, (4) sex-related variables and mature reading response, and (5) the use of qualitative and quantitative data in answering research questions.
