Abstract | Intended for disabled women, this booklet accompanies the film "The Dream's Not Enough: Portraits of Successful Women with Disabilities." The film depicts some of the careers and satisfying lifestyles achieved by women with disabilities. The booklet includes details about the range of services and information available to help the handicapped woman decide on a rewarding career and get the needed education to pursue it. Topics covered in the guide are the following: (1) a detailed look at the lives of the women featured in the film, describing the barriers they faced and how they overcame them; (2) how to select a satisfying career; (3) traditional and nontraditional careers and reasons for selecting nontraditional careers; (4) lists of groups that offer career planning resources, with an outline of their services and information; and (5) a list of books and booklets containing information on working in nontraditional fields. A user form for evaluating the film completes the guide. (KC) |
