AbstractThe facilitator's manual offers information for conducting a workshop to teach regular educators, special educators, and parents of handicapped children problem solving and decision making techniques as they relate to the individualized education program (IEP) team. Three presentations are designed to define and discuss the rationale and process for problem solving/decision making; define and teach two problem solving methods (brainstorming and the situation-target-paths problem solving sequence); and to offer a rationale for and definition of the most common decision making methods teams use as well as an action plan which includes steps for implementing team decisions. Complete texts for the three presentations are provided as well as step by step guidelines for two activities which relate to the presentations. Among the topics covered are the problem solving process, stages of the problem solving sequence, and methods for making decisions. A participant's handbook on problem solving and decision making is included. (SB)
