Abstract | This handbook for administrators, teachers, parents, and students describes a system of strategies that will assist in implementing follow-up studies of former vocational program participants (completers and/or early leavers). Section 1 discusses use of the handbook. Section 2 concerns the rationale for doing follow-up and includes legislation, definitions, and problems and concerns. Section 3 identifies significant decisions in planning for a follow-up study. Nineteen procedures which must be followed are listed and then discussed. Sections 4-8 provide these sample materials: (1) data tables; (2) survey checklists for the preparation, data collection, data analysis and dissemination phases; (3) student and employer questionnaires and cover letters; (4) tabulation forms for questionnaire responses; and (5) reporting formats for questionnaire responses. Section 9 contains a sample report of results, including completed response reporting forms and narrative summaries of response results. In section 10 a list of factors to be considered when estimating follow-up costs is provided. Section 11 presents a sample agenda for an inservice meeting for educators dealing with follow-up procedures. Section 12 is a bibliography. (The proposal for the project to develop this model follow-up system precedes the handbook.) (YLB) |
