Abstract	A study examined the relationships among communication predispositions and behaviors and learning preferences. It also assessed instrumentation adequacy for learning style preference. Subjects were 423 high school students who completed a battery of instruments, including D. A. Kolb's Learning Style Inventory (LSI), that measured their perceptions of their own communication predispositions, behaviors, and learning styles. The LSI measures an individual's relative emphasis on each of four learning style dimensions: (1) concrete experience, (2) abstract conceptualization, (3) active experimentation, and (4) reflective observation. Canonical correlation analysis indicated three significant variates relating communication and learning style. Multiple regression analysis indicated communication variables to be most important in predicting active experimentation, reflective observation, active participation, and active/passive orientation. Multiple discriminant analysis indicated that a linear composite of communication behaviors and predispositions can correctly classify 61% of the cases into one of the four LSI learning categories.
