AbstractDay, evening, and total weekly student contact hours (WSCH) reported each Fall from 1975 to 1979 are presented in a series of data tables for the Los Angeles Community College District and each of its nine member institutions. First for the District and then for each of the colleges, tables provide WSCH figures for 23 academic disciplines and for each instructional program within those disciplines. Percentages of increase or decrease from one year to the next are also indicated. These data reveal, among other findings, that the ten most popular disciplines within the district between 1975 and 1979 were business and management, education, fine and applied arts, social science, letters, engineering, mathematics, physical science, psychology, and health occupations. During 1978-79, computer science experienced the largest gain in WSCH (+24.4%), while social science and psychology showed the largest declines (-20.3% and -16.5%, respectively). The study also reveals that in 1979 the District offered a total of 212 instructional programs, compared to 229 in 1975; and that during this period 18 new programs were added and 35 programs were dropped. The report includes a listing of the courses that were added or deleted and a classified outline of the District's disciplines and programs. (JP)
