| Abstract | Written primarily for coaches, this book is intended to help formulate a conceptual philosophy and approach to the game of basketball. The basic offensive, defensive, and transitioal fundamentals are stressed, and drills that simulate these fundamentals in a game are presented. The drills differ from most others in that they are designed so that each player will have maximum participation. They call for two- and three-player formations rather than lines of players waiting their turn. The book is divided into four sections. The first on defense contains five concepts that should apply to defensive aspects of every team. The transition section deals with one major concept that should characterize the important seconds between offense and defense. The third section presents four concepts for improving offense, and the fourth gives several important ideas for preparing teams to implement the concepts of defense, offense, and transition. (DS) |
